Travel to Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Bukit Bintang.

My journey started leaving Mount Gambier on Friday. After advertising for someone to transport 26kg of kids clothing to Melbourne for me, I was lucky to snag a lift as well with my friend Kira and her partner Tommy. Halfway there, we pulled into a bottle shop and got some 'roadies' to pass the time. Lynn met me in Melbourne and after a mad dash for some last minute shopping, we arrived at Lynns close to 10pm. On the Saturday morning, I was due to meet with a new trainer to do a session and see if we were 'compatible'. My plan to maybe hit the figure competitor stage next year has hit a snag lately with my weight gain and inability to shift the fat. Lynn's daughter Kylee and her man were kind enough to drive me into South Melbourne and hang around while I trained. Aaron my trainer, put me through a tough leg and shoulder workout. He had me doing 180kg leg presses and I thought I was going to die. I had an instant headache! lol

Travel to Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.

After disembarking from the speed boat we had a few hours waiting in Kuala Besut for our night bus to KL and passed the time updating blogs, chatting with a few friends we had made on the islands and having a bite to eat. The bus arrived on time and was easily one
Great times at Holiof the most comfortable and pain free journeys we had taken during our trip. On arriving in KL at 6am we quickly located a train station and made our way to Pasar Seni (China Town), the area where we were looking to stay. Arrivng so early in a big city, it is always difficult to find a guest house as the ones which are open only have night staff operating and the others are not willing to let you check in until mid-day at the earliest. I had a quick scout around whilst Vics stayed with the bags and for a while thought we wouldn't actually find anywhere as accomdation was either full, too expensive or filthy before finally coming accross BirdsNest 2, which had one room free. This was not before a very strange, drunk man from the Oasis guesthouse started being very rude to us whilst following and taking pictures of us because we hadn't taken one of the most filthy rooms we have seen accross the whole of Asia at his guesthouse - complete weirdo.

Travel to Malaysia, Wilayah Persekutuan, Kuala Lumpur.

Apart from the mosquitos taking rather a liking to me and nibbling me to pieces, we have just spent a lovely 3 days exploring KL and all it has to offer. It won't surprise you to hear that food and drink have featured highly on the agenda.

Sunday - following an extremely lazy day, feeling like lounge lizards, we started with evening cocktails on the Roof terrace before heading out for a truly delicious meal at Nerovivo, serving Italian cuisine. Unusual in Asia and very unlike us, but the standard of food and service were exceptional.

Yesterday morning - first stop, Chow Kit market, named after the district Chow Kit and after the miner and municipal councillor, Loke Chow Kit. This colourful market is the largest wet market in KL, with narrow walkways leading to stalls selling fruit, vegetables, spices, fish, meat and handicrafts. A kaleidoscope of colours and aromas make locals and tourists alike keen to explore further. In a nearby stall we sat down to KOPI, Pao buns with chicken and Apam Balik (pancake with sweetcorn and peanuts) - not the best example. After meandering in the 36 degree heat we decided to head to the food
Becky, rooftop bar Villa Samadhipavilion, Pavilion shopping mall, to pick up a chicken flossy bun and some cooling beers in the shade, watching the world go by. If ever you visit South East Asia these buns are a must.

In the evening we headed out to Bukit Bintang to a fine Vietnamese restaurant called Sao Nam, Star of Vietnam. Etched on a chalk board was this from Benjamin Franklin - "In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom and in water there is bacteria". I guess that means I need to continue with the wine and I will be wise into old age. This was our second visit and I must say the food was as refreshingly tasty as it was the first time. We opted for the Vietnamese crispy pancakes with mushroom, prawn and chicken, salmon with dill accompanied by an outstanding dipping sauce and vietnamese chicken curry. Each taste just left you wanting more. A few cheeky wines after dinner, a swim in the warm pool and some chocolate cake ended the night perfectly.
