Amsterdam is famous for its red light district and cannabis selling coffee shops. Many stag & hen parties head to Amsterdam to party but Amsterdam has so much more to offer.

I’ve been to Amsterdam four times between 2006 & 2010 and two of those were for stag parties. My first visit to Amsterdam was a weekend tour in 2006 with Anderson tours. We left London early Friday morning via bus and travelled through France, Belgium and the Netherlands. This tour was great and I made some great friends but it’s a long journey (roughly 12 hours driving on the first day but it’s great if you’re travelling on a budget) The tour stops in Bruges on the way back to London so you’ll be able tick off both places in one weekend. The Red light district of Amsterdam is a big tourist attraction; it’s a network of alleys with small room apartments rented by sex workers. Illuminated red lights distinguish these rooms. 

Coffee shops in Amsterdam are allowed to sell small amounts of cannabis. It’s advisable not to buy anything from people in the street, smoking is only allowed within these coffee shops or in hostel smoking rooms but this does not always happen! Some popular coffee shops would be The Grasshopper (3 story building illuminated by green lights) The Bull Dog cafes and Free Adam coffee shop.

Amsterdam has many canals and famous museums; I’d recommend hiring a bike and doing a tour around the city to see everything on offer. Anne Franks house is a museum worth visiting, Anne Frank hid from the Nazi soldiers with her family in hidden rooms at the rear of the building.
