Queenstown is located in the South Island and renowned for its adventure activities from bungy jumping to snowboarding. We spent 2 days in Queenstown and during our visit we experienced the triple hitter as they call it, the Nevis Arc (World's Highest Swing), the Shotover Jet (Jet boat) & Queenstown Rafting. 

The Nevis Arc scared the bijebbies out of me, imagine a large swing while suspended 160m up…. then drop, down you go. The Shotover Jet is a nonstop awesome adrenaline rush through the Shotover river. Darting and weaving through the narrow canyons while holding on for your life. It’s one of the best jet boating experiences around. Click on the following link for more info http://www.shotoverjet.com

The Queenstown rafting started with a thrilling helicopter ride up Skippers Canyon, we then headed to our meeting point for the rafting adventure. To be honest all of our group were a little nervous about being thrown out of the boats into the icy cold waters, especially given the ice covered rocks that surrounded the river banks. But with the sun beaming down on us, we began to relax as our expert guide Cam explained the in’s & outs of the raft and the do’s and don’ts when out on the water. The first challenge was being able to row at the same time, this took a few minutes to establish but once sorted we were off down the amazing Kawarau River, taking in all the scenery around us while trying to also manage the raft through grade 2/3 rapids. All the boats stuck together and we had great fun. This was one of my personal favourites and I’d recommend this activity to all those visiting Queenstown. I’d like to thank Queenstown Rafting and our guide Cam who was great and made our experience one to remember.

Getting around Queenstown is fairly easy, everything is within walking distance, I’d definitely recommend taking the Gondola up to the Skyline complex for the best views over Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu. There’s a bunch of activities within the complex including walking tracks, the downhill luge and bungy jumping. 

If you have a car, head out to Glenorkey and stop for photos at Million dollar view, as the name suggests it’s absolutely amazing.

Any visit to Queenstown would not be complete without trying the best burgers in town, head to Ferg Burger located in the city centre on Shotover Street, be warned you’ll be waiting for at least 30 minutes or more but it’s totally worth the wait (tip, ring ahead and pre order before heading down). Accommodation: You have so much choice when it comes to accommodation in Queenstown, it just depends what’s left available. Plan and book in advance to secure the best location wise. During our visit we stayed at the Hilton Hotel, a little pricey when compared to the backpackers but worth it.
